What is the next realm in the development of mountain bike technology? It seems that the crazy development speed of mountain bikes has slowed down. Perhaps part of it is due to the impact of the epidemic. For example, the shortage of the supply chain has led to the delay of countless new product releases, but in any case, the newly released bicycles in the recent period are more “enhanced”. , rather than substantial innovation and change.

Mountain bikes have evolved to a stage where it is hard to be as eye-catching as the introduction of disc brakes and suspension systems. I suspect that we are approaching a plateau of evolution and development where attention turns more towards refinement than re-creation.

New drivetrain technology is exciting, but it has less of an impact on the overall riding experience of the bike than the introduction of disc brakes and suspension.

What about electric mopeds? This is an entirely different question, but it also happens to be an area where a lot of new products are emerging. Considering that modern mountain bikes are so popular, and there is still a lot of room for development of batteries/motors on eMTBs, the future of electric assist is promising. Like it or not, electric mopeds have become a part of the market and are becoming more common, especially for relatively lightweight low- and mid-power models.

Even if there aren’t any drastic changes in mountain bike design in the near future, I still have enough expectations for improvements. You may never use them, but frames with adjustable geometry still attract more people. I believe many companies are developing their own built-in storage solutions.

But now might be a good time to buy a car that won’t go out of style anytime soon.
