Summer is coming. It’s always rainy in summer, and rainy days should be one of the obstacles to long-distance riding. Once it encounters rainy days, the settings of all aspects of the electric bike need to be adjusted. In the face of slippery roads, the first thing a cyclist needs to adjust is the configuration of all aspects of the bicycle.

Tire

Under normal circumstances, the tire pressure of the bicycle is 7-8 atmospheres, but in rainy days it should drop to 6 atmospheres. Because the tire pressure decreases, the touching area between the tire and the ground will increase, thereby increasing the grip of the tire and preventing slippage. In addition, do not use new tires in rainy days, because unrubbed tires contain slippery materials such as silicone, which is not conducive to the stability of the bicycle.

Brake

Due to the more force is required when braking in the rain, the brake pads of the bicycle need to be adjusted so that they are more comfortable close to the wheel rim when braking.

Chain

Before riding in the rain, you need to keep the chain clean, including the front and rear gears, and apply some lubricant on it. Remember, do not use spray or drip, because it is easy to get the lubricant on the tires and rims, which is not conducive to braking.

Turn

Even if it’s not raining, turning is a very important technique for cyclists. When turning, you need to lower the center of gravity, sink your shoulders, keep your inner knee low, and your outer knee high, keeping your torso, head and bike in line . In addition, the angle of inclination cannot be as large as on ride on the dry ground, and the speed needs to be slowed down.

Road Condition

Finally, pay attention to road conditions when riding. Roads will get slippery when it rains. The road surface is different, the grip is also different, the rough road has strong grip, and the smooth road has weak grip. In addition, avoid roads with diesel oil and try to avoid small puddles.
