On June 17, 2022, the China Bicycle Association held an online press conference to announce the development and characteristics of the bicycle industry in 2021 and from January to April this year. In 2021, the bicycle industry will show strong development resilience and potential, achieve rapid growth in revenue and profit, and export more than 10 billion US dollars for the first time.

According to statistics from the China Bicycle Association, the output of bicycles last year was 76.397 million, a year-on-year increase of 1.5%; the output of electric bicycles was 45.511 million, a year-on-year increase of 10.3%. The total operating income of the whole industry is 308.5 billion yuan, and the total profit is 12.7 billion yuan. The export volume of the industry exceeded US$12 billion, a year-on-year increase of 53.4%, a record high.

In 2021, 69.232 million bicycles will be exported, a year-on-year increase of 14.8%; the export value will be 5.107 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 40.2%. Among them, “racing bicycles” and “mountain bikes”, which represent high-end sports and high added value, have grown significantly. Due to the slowdown in international demand, China’s bicycle industry is currently actively responding and seeking to stabilize exports.
