Australia is the largest market for Toyota Land Cruisers. Although we are looking forward to the new 300 series that has just been released, Australia is still acquiring new 70 series models in the form of SUVs and pickup trucks. That’s because when the FJ40 stopped production, the production line branched out two ways. The United States has obtained larger and more comfortable models, while in other markets such as Europe, the Middle East and Australia, there are still simple, hard-core 70-series off-road vehicles.
With the advancement of electrification and the existence of the 70 series, a company called VivoPower is cooperating with Toyota in the country and has signed a letter of intent (LOI), “between VivoPower and Toyota Australia Create a partnership plan to electrify Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles using conversion kits designed and manufactured by VivoPower’s wholly-owned electric vehicle subsidiary Tembo e-LV BV”
The letter of intent is similar to the initial agreement, which stipulates the terms of the purchase of goods and services. The main service agreement is reached after negotiation between the two parties. VivoPower said that if everything goes according to plan, the company will become Toyota Australia’s exclusive electric power system supplier within five years, with the option of extending it for two years.
Kevin Chin, Executive Chairman and CEO of VivoPower, said: “We are very pleased to work with Toyota Motor Australia, which is part of the world’s largest original equipment manufacturer, using our Tembo conversion kit to electrify their Land Cruiser cars “This partnership demonstrates the potential of Tembo’s technology in the decarbonization of transportation in some of the world’s most difficult and difficult to decarbonize industries. More importantly, it is our ability to optimize Tembo products and deliver them to the world Great opportunity for more customers. The world.”
Sustainable energy company VivoPower acquired a controlling stake in electric vehicle expert Tembo e-LV in 2018, which made this transaction possible. It is easy to understand why mining companies want electric vehicles. You cannot transport people and goods into a tunnel that emits exhaust gas all the way. Tembo said that converting to electricity can also save money and reduce noise.
We have contacted VivoPower to find out what we might see in terms of range and power, and we will update when we receive a response. Currently, Tembo is also modifying another Toyota hard truck Hilux for electric vehicles.
